18 years making Virgin Mobile simply brilliant

Virgin Mobile
Brand Development

Launched in the UK in 1999, Virgin Mobile is a brand used by eight independent mobile services companies in 12 countries: Australia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, UAE and USA. Virgin Mobile is typically a partnership between Virgin and an existing network operator or mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). Start helped launch Virgin Mobile UK and has supported the brand’s launch in various capacities into most international territories.

Versatility and value
of the virgin mobile brand

Virgin Mobile UK is the world’s first MVNO. Start worked closely with executive management from its formation through its sale to NTL:Telewest in 2006 for £1bn. Start then led the rebrand of the enlarged company into Virgin Media in 2007 and continued working with the company through to its sale in 2013 to Liberty Global for £15bn.

We’ve been a proud partner of Virgin for many years. Working closely with Virgin Group Management and Senior Group Company executives, we were responsible for the redesign of the Virgin masterbrand in 2003 and its subsequent incorporation into all Virgin Group company identities. Virgin Mobile is one of the great success stories of the Virgin Group and we’re so pleased to have helped contribute to that success and to continue providing its services, most recently to VM MEA for the Saudi Arabia launch and in 2017 in the UAE.
